  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 110 g cold water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • 5 tbsp almond flour (for topping)
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Make the Filling: Peel and slice apples. Melt butter in a pan over medium heat; add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water. Cook until slightly soft.
  3. Roll Out Dough: Roll chilled dough on floured surface and transfer to pie dish.
  4. Assemble Pie: Pour apple filling into crust; sprinkle almond flour on top. Optionally cover with another layer of dough.
  5. Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush crust with egg wash and sprinkle brown sugar before baking for about 80 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let cool slightly before serving warm with vanilla ice cream.
