  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold, cut into cubes)
  • 110 g water
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2½ tbsp water (for filling)
  • Almond flour or finely ground nuts for topping
  • 1 egg (for topping)
  • Vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by mixing flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms.
  2. For the filling, peel and slice apples thinly. Melt butter in a saucepan, stir in brown sugar and cinnamon, then add apple slices, cornstarch, salt, and water. Cook until slightly softened.
  3. Roll out half of the dough for the bottom crust and place in a pie dish. Fill with cooled apple mixture. Roll out the remaining dough for the top crust.
  4. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for approximately 80 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream on top.
