  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 oz almond paste
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg (divided)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the thawed puff pastry on the baking sheet without stretching it.
  3. In a bowl, mix almond paste, softened butter, granulated sugar, and half the beaten egg until smooth.
  4. Spread the filling down the center third of the pastry.
  5. Cut diagonal strips along both sides of the pastry.
  6. Fold the strips alternately over the filling and brush with the remaining egg.
  7. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
