  • 12 oz canned chickpeas (drained)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grapeseed oil (or other neutral oil, for frying)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Drain and pat dry the chickpeas. Mash them until coarse.
  2. In a bowl, combine mashed chickpeas with cumin, black pepper, sea salt, green onions, garlic, flour, and egg until well-mixed.
  3. Heat grapeseed oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Shape the mixture into patties and fry each side for 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
  5. For the yogurt sauce, mix Greek yogurt with lemon juice, dill, garlic, and sea salt; chill before serving.
  6. Serve warm with yogurt sauce.
